Welcome to Columbia State Historic Park, home to the largest collection of Gold Rush-era buildings in California.
During the early 1850s, Columbia boosted a large and diverse population of gold seekers from countries all over the world. In its heyday, it was one of the most populous, bustling cities in the state.
Today, Columbia is a living and breathing Gold Rush town. The remaining buildings, cultural items, artifacts, and large mining pit help to tell the story of those who sacrificed everything in pursuit of fortune. During this program, your students will learn the monumental impact this global event had on the development of California.
NOTE: This program is best suited for grades 4th-8th.
