Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Hi everyone! I'm Lillie and I'm inviting you to take a journey with me through an ancient grove of giant sequoia in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, live! Why talk about giant sequoia? Well, not only are they a rare species found in specific areas of California, but as the name suggests they are giant! As the biggest individual tree on earth and one of the oldest, there is no doubt the giant sequoia's fascinating life story will delight and inspire students of all ages. 

There are three different PORTS On-Demand Programs available. In the Giant Sequoia Ecology program, available year-round, we walk around a grove of giant sequoias and learn all about the mixed conifer forest in which they live. In the Super Animal Superpowers program, we cover giant sequoia and animal adaptations from inside our museum- what we cover depends on the current season! In the Fire Ecology program, we discuss the basics of fire and its complex relationship with the forest.
