What is PORTS?

PORTS (Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students)® is a FREE distance learning program from California State Parks. PORTS harnesses the power of live videoconferencing to connect K–12 students directly with park interpreters, bringing California’s natural and cultural treasures to life in real time.

PORTS Programs are private, interactive virtual field trips designed for individual classrooms. Teachers can schedule these live sessions to engage their students in dynamic, curriculum-based experiences that explore the wonders of California’s State Parks—without ever leaving the classroom.

PORTScasts are public live broadcasts that allow multiple classrooms or the general public to tune in together. These large-scale virtual events spotlight special topics, park locations, or cultural celebrations, making State Parks accessible to anyone, anywhere.

Now in its 19th year, the PORTS Program continues to make equitable, exciting, and sustainable access to our parks possible through the power of technology and storytelling.
