Silver Strand State Beach

Explore – Silver Strand State Beach!

Welcome to Silver Strand State Beach! Silver Strand has ocean and bay front beaches and rare coastal sand dunes inhabited by sensitive birds and rare plants. A portion of the State Beach is an underwater park. Maintaining the balance between recreation and natural and cultural resources is important to all staff and visitors at Silver Strand

In this program, students will learn about how the eelgrass habitat in San Diego Bay provides a number of benefits to the bay ecosystem and is also a foundational habitat for species both in and out of water. We will talk about several endangered species such as the Eastern Pacific green sea turtle and the California least tern that are found in the bay, and their reliance on healthy eelgrass habitats.

This Park participates in the California State Park Adventure Pass, a pass that provides free entry for fourth graders and their families at many amazing state parks throughout the state. Mountains, deserts, forests, rivers … the choice of where to visit is yours.  Learn more About the California State Park Adventure Pass.
