California Citrus: The Groves and Beyond

During this 45 min virtual program, students will learn how California’s second gold rush (the citrus industry) helped shape and develop California today. They will also learn how various groups of people played a significant role in the expansion of the industry through their labor. California Citrus State Historic Park is home to two varietal groves with over 70 different varieties of fruit grown on site. This program will talk about the unique varieties that they may not normally see in their local grocery stores. Additionally, students will learn how one small orange can have such a huge impact. This program is designed for 4th grade students learning about California history.
