The Yurok People Are Still Here
PORTS On-Demand registration is closed for the fall semester.
A virtual walk through Sue-meg Village with 3 stops: the Yurok Redwood Living House, Dress House, and The Sweat House. As we visit each stop, students can explore the different uses of each Redwood structure and learn about traditional materials that created a home for Yurok families for thousands of years to the present day. Engage in conversation about the cultural significance of the Sue-meg Village and of Sue-meg State Park to the Yurok People and neighboring tribes. This program is geared towards elementary students, middle school, and high school students (grades 3rd - 12th). For more questions or more information please contact Maiya Rainer at Maiya.Rainer@parks.ca.gov.
