Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook In-Person Field Trip!

Explore Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook!

In-Person Field Trip: “Island of Possibilities Among a Sea of Concrete”

Students will explore Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook from 400ft above sea level and experience breathtaking views of the Los Angeles skyline, surrounding mountains, and Pacific Ocean. Students will learn about biodiversity and human impacts on this land; from the stewardship of the Native Americans to the arrival of the Spanish Colonists, from the slow-paced Rancho era to becoming the busy urban space it is today. We highlight plant and animal adaptations used to survive in this ever-changing environment and explore possible solutions to habitat loss, directly impacting our quality of life. This program includes a short nature walk across our hillside with binoculars, a trip through our visitor center, and an interactive activity on animals in our park. The nature walk engages most of the senses for a memorable and interactive outdoor experience.

Maximum capacity is 60 Students due to staffing limitations.

Adaptable for Grades 3-8
