Detecting a Changing Climate at Tijuana Estuary (9th-12th)

Tijuana Estuary is one of 30 National Estuarine Research Reserves across the country working together to monitor the health of estuarine systems. This on-going, system-wide monitoring program (SWMP “swamp”) collects weather, water quality, and vegetation data. Students will explore some real-time data while the CA State Park interpreter guides them from edge of the salt marsh. This program allows students to look at what is happening right now and also consider how the data might detect climate change.
