The Smallest Superheroes
PORTS On-Demand registration is closed for the fall semester.
Decomposers benefit the web of life. Step into the world of decomposers and decomposition; The world’s tiniest superheroes live in and on the dirt and are known as decomposers. These tiny but mighty creatures benefit our environment thanks to their important job, that is breaking down and recycling the organic nutrients and materials found in organic matter. Thanks to Decomposers such as pill bugs, bacteria, worms, fungus, and other insects; the natural recycling of important nutrients and materials within the soil helps create healthy soil and healthy ecosystems. We will explore the role of our tiny superheroes and how decomposers are vital to healthy ecosystems.
Students will see live examples of decomposition and participate in an engaging environmental activity focusing on decomposers, producers, and consumers.
