Tar, Not Just a Nuisance!

Let’s discover the active tar seeps at Carpinteria State Beach! Students will learn about why and how tar continues to seep on our coast. We will then observe a series of historical or modern scenes of tar and discuss and decide whether this resource has been a convenience or a nuisance to the animals, plants, and humans that inhabit this area historically and currently.
