Salmon in the Trees

Join us for the migration of a lifetime! From freshwater streams to the open ocean and back again, salmon are one of nature’s best nutrient transporters. In this program, we will learn about the salmon life cycle—including how they adapt to changes in their environment throughout their life, their migrations, limiting nutrients, and nutrient cycling, as well as what happens to the rest of the ecosystem when salmon become an endangered species. We will also learn about marine protected areas and the role they play in helping salmon populations recover. This program is designed for middle school audiences, grades 6-8, and coincides with NGSS Standard MS-LS2-3. This program works best for students who are studying or have studied the salmon life cycle.
