Description: Join us for a deep dive into the fascinating lives of Northern Elephants Seals from Hearst San Simeon State Park. Together, we will observe elephant seals live from the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery – the largest mainland elephant seal rookery in the world. During this program, we will investigate the incredible adaptations that allow elephant seals to migrate thousands of miles per year, go months without eating, and dive thousands of feet deep. We will look closely at the unique physical features and behaviors that make elephant seals successful predators, fierce competitors with one another, and spectacular swimmers. We'll also gain an understanding of humans’ impact on elephant seal populations, and learn the need for all people to be stewards for wildlife.
