RI.K.1 With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text. RI.1.1 Ask and answer questions about key details in a text. RI.2.1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
SL.K.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about kindergarten topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups. SL.1.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 1 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups. SL.2.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 2 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.

K-LS1-1 Use observations to describe patterns of what plants and animals (including humans) need to survive. 1-LS1-1 Use materials to design a solution to a human problem by mimicking how plants and/or animals use their external parts to help them survive, grow, and meet their needs. 2-LS4-1 Make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats.
K-ESS3-1 Use a model to represent the relationship between the needs of different plants and animals (including humans) and the places they live. 1-LS1-2 Read texts and use media to determine patterns in behavior of parents and offspring that help offspring survive. 2-PS1-1 Plan and conduct an investigation to describe and classify different kinds of materials by their observable properties.
